Adding Applications to Launch Panel

Hai all ,
I am building a debian based distro ..I want , After installation of
the OS , the frequently used applications such as Openoffice tools
,Firefox ,k3b should icons should be made available in the launch panel
by default ..Which Pacakge I need to edit ..How can I do that ..
