gnome-cups-icon: question/suggestion

Dear Developers,
Is there a way to tell the gnome-cups-icon to only show certain printers?
My network has more than 200 printers scattered over many distant
buildings and the cups applet spends quite a lot of cpu figuring out
that a certain printer on the other side of the river is "Paused" or
"Needs attention".
Thanks for the wonderful GNOME environment.
All the best,
Zac
