Actually, there are predefined mouse-pointer "themes", which you can set
in gnome-mouse-properties, under the Pointers tab. Btw, you cannot
define your own "theme" here - unfortunately. Maybe some should write an
app for it? :)

When I go th Preferences > Theme, a 'Custom Theme' is at the top of the

Yes, that's basically it :-)

There is one part that I personally think should be part of a theme, but
doesn't seem to be at the moment--mouse pointer settings. AFAIK that can
only be changed using GConf.
