log out button delay

When I click the log out button I usually have to wait 7 seconds
before the window with the restart/shut down/hibernate/suspend
operations appears. It's enough to make a guy wanna sudo shutdown
now ;-)
Seriously, this is just a minor annoyance, but if anyone has a clue
about how I can stop it, I'd be indebted.
