You can do that, but you'll be much happier if you can add lots
of RAM. A gigabyte or so will help.

I agree, though I would say even adding 256M to go up to 512M total
would be great. My sister and fiance both use Ubuntu on Thinkpads T22
with P3M-900s at 512MB and are reasonably happy with the performance.
