Gnome vfs path

Hello all.

I'm trying to install gThumb - quite a few problems! One of the strange
things I notice is that gThumb consults - via gnomevfs:

stat64("/opt/gnome/etc/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules", 0xbfd4b210) = -1 ENOENT
(No such file or directory)

I've looked for 'modules' and found it under

/opt/gnome/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/

Does anyone know if the path is configurable? Can I just move this? And is
there any basic info on gnome vfs? How to use/initialize if necessary?

Greetings,
John
