How do I disable/remove tooltips?

Hello all

I want to disable/remove tooltips in Gnome, how can I do that? I asked many peoples, but they say it's impossible. I've been in gconf-editor and turned off all tooltips there I could find, but without success.

My system:
Ubuntu 6.10
Gnome 2.16.1

regards.
