GTK engines

Hi all
I have to use a Linux desktop where I don't have root access. I'm just a Joe
Average user. Fair enough.
Is there a way I can install and use GTK engines (like Smooth, eXperience,
etc.) in my local account? I don't really want to install Garnome, just add
the GTK engines to my library path or whatever so I can get the full L&F of
the theme.
In hope,

Sean
