directories for each version of KDE. But that doesn't have the advantage I
had before: the settings are different for each one, for example I had some
Konqueror bookmarks in the "older" .kde and now they don't appear in the
"newer" one. So I think I will stick with the setup I had before.

Not one of my best subject but you can make a script run each time some one
logs on and I think off. The bookmark and history folders etc seem to be
common up to the version I use. I simply copied them over. It should be
possible to write a script to to do the same and keep them in sink.
