I'm afraid I can't tell you anything about support for that soundcard, but I
can solve your second problem. Just do a `dmesg | head` and look at the
first line of output, or alternatively `uname -a`.

dmesg (without piping it through head) will give you full kernel output, which
might prove usefull later when you want to see if the soundcard was
recognized.
