You can't change the resolution since you don't have a CRT. With a flatWhy do you mean? I can't change the resolution? I can configure X / KDE to use all resolutions from 640x480 up to 1280x1024.
screen, the native resolution is fixed, and you should set X to use the
display's native resolution.
The problem is that you really don't have a high enough resolutionYes, that seem to be the problem. On my notebook with 1400x1050 I have an 4:3 aspect ration and all looks fine. I'll try it with 100dpi.
display to display the fonts actual size and have them look good. I can
only suggest that you try 100 DPI and see in this looks better.
