[kde] No "audio device" in Kopete

Hello Kolleagues !
I'm not able to use kopete for talking via MSN. Configure->Devices doesn't
show a tab for Audio Devices.
I have fruitlessly looked in ~/.kde/share/config/kopeterc and googled
extensively. I suspect I'm missing something very basic indeed, since I
couldn't find anybody with a similar problem.
Software versions:
Linux Debian/etch kernel 2.6.15-1-amd64-k8
alsa 1.0.11
KDE 3.5.3
kopete 0.11.3
How do I configure kopete to recognize and use an Audio Device, so that I can
talk via MSN ?
Thanks for your attention
Paulo
