On suse 10 there is never any need to unmount autodetected items like a

window pops up on insertion.
I dont think this is appropriate, especially for usb hot pluggable drives.
The drive maybe in use when unplugged. There must be a process followed to
unplug. Here on kubuntu 6.06 i have do <right click->safely remove> on the
drive before physically unplugging.
Yeah, you have to do that otherwise there's a chance of corrupting your USB
drive. You'll either unplug it when data is being written to it, or the data
just won't be given chance to be written as the data sits in a memory buffer
for a while first.
You even have to do this in Windows, it tells you off if you don't ;-)

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
