Try running 'mandb --create' if you have not already done that.

Didn't help.

Also run 'updatedb' as root

-bash: updatedb: command not found

followed by 'locate man1', 'locate man2' and so on
up to man8 to make sure the manual pages are installed. I think they
probably are installed but the database was corrupted or never created.

-bash: locate: command not found

You are missing the findutils package, that is why 'locate' and 'updatedb' do
not work.
