I had konqueror crash on me, with 4 tabs open, and now
everytime I start it by clicking on the icon (it
doesn't happen if I start in file browsing mode or if
I open a page directly) it starts up with those four
tabs open. Furthermore, its now bypassing the
"confirm closing when multiple tabs are open" feature.

any ideas what is causing this?
Close the tabs, set up your default behaviour etc..
then,

Settings/Configure view profiles
and save your profile.
