In .bashrc, I have PS1='\u@\h:\w\$ '
which is what I want as a command prompt but not for a window title. ;-)

you probably have a prompt setting that has the ANSI sequences to set___________________________________________________
the title. just replace it by a normal one.

I would like to set the window title to just <title>. It bugs me to hell
but I'll be damned if I can find how to set the title. ;-)
Also, I don't want the window title to change dynamically.
How can this be achieved?
