Hi!

I have come upon an annoying flaw in SuSE Linux 10.0 that I didn't
have with SuSE Linux 9.3. However, I think the font display issue
belongs to KDE itself because it's the frontend that is
responsible for graphics display, but perhaps you know better. So
the reason could be the different KDE versions!

I would like to exemplify that with the following two screenshots:

Bad one: (OpenOffice, but the example applies to most of the
programs within Linux)

Appears not to be loading libfontconfig.so . Try running in a terminal
and look at the error messages.
I found that when this happens in a KDE app, I had to rebuild QT.

Good one: (with KPDF, which displays it independently (It's just
PDF!)). That's the way SuSE 9.3 displayed all the text!

This problem has been circulating around fedoraforum.org as well. It
seems that going to Control Center->Appearance and
Themes->Fonts->check Use Anti-aliasing for Fonts (if it's not
already checked), Then click configure and change "Hinting Style" to
full. It helped some. but it's still noticeable.
There was another kde-base update to fix the font problem for FC5,
but It didn't seem to change anything on my end. In fact, It seems
to be worse again. Perhaps after the last update, i need to go back
to default seeing for anti-aliasing (medium Hinting Style).

Guess I should have mentioned KDE version 3.5.4-0.1, and the latest
base update 3.5.4-0.4 (FC5)
