[kde-linux] Putting Applications Icons on KDE Desktop

I have successfully downloaded and installed Scilab, a math analysis program, in SUSE Linux. Now I would like an icon on the KDE desktop to easily start Scilab. Have not been able to ferret out the SUSE or KDE instructions on how to do that, if they exist.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
