This is just a "same here" post. In my case, Kscd hasn't
failed to fail :-) I mean, it stops playing at 100% of the times.
It happens in the early part of any CD, perhaps within 10 minutes.
I haven't checked syslog. I use the Debian testing distribution
and
$ kscd --version
Qt: 3.3.7
KDE: 3.5.5
KsCD: 1.6
$
