I have a Suse Linux 10.1 OS. KDE Version 3.5.1 level"a".
I have lost my automatic window list in my task bar which told me what
windows I had open. I do not know how to get it back or even how I lost
it. Right now I using a window list I put there from the panel menu. This
is not good enough. I want my original back.

Right-click on the panel, select Add Applet to Panel, then look for Taskbar.
Select it and click on Add to Panel.
