Re: [kde-linux] KDED crashes on KDE 3.5.8

Hi,

thanks for answering :)

Nothing above the error is displayed in the Xorg.0.log. The only (more or
less) useful information is to find in the file .Xsession-errors of the
user
doing the login/logout:

================================================
..
startkde: Starting up...
...
ASSERT: "!name.isEmpty()" in kdirlister.cpp (969)
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3
Major opcode: 19
Minor opcode: 0
Resource id: 0x1c00007

I find this error in my log when shutting down:

X Error: BadWindow (invalid window parameter) 3
Major opcode: 19
Minor opcode: 0
Resource id: 0x2600091

Using KDE 3.5.8 on Debian. No ASSERT line or anything else before it.

I sometimes see errors saying that KDED crashed or could not be
contacted (something like that).

Yes,
but it doesn't sacrifice your whole Xserver so you only have to reboot,
does it? I wouldn't care about this error too, if X didn't get "doomed"
every fourth or fifth logout (by some users even every first or second
:) )...

Greetings
