Is it possible to have Kate automatically open files in
read-only mode when I don't have write permission on them?
I'm referring to the menu entry "tools->read only mode". When
this is on you can't modify the *displayed* text.
When I open a file that I can't write to, it's usually because
I'm just viewing the file, or occasionally because I'm editing
the wrong copy of the file. In either case it's irritating
that Kate lets me change the memory copy.
Looking at the interface exposed by dcop in kdcop reveals nothing
(to my eyes) that would let you automate that. Maybe someone
else knows more.
