Use CUPS. You know, the local host thing. http://localhost:631/ Click on
the "Administration" tab [ or use http://localhost:6.1/admin/ ] > "Find
New Printers" and follow the prompts. Worked for me on our weird network
setup.
Typo alert!
http://localhost:631/admin/
I did try that, but that caused the situation where every few minutes
a notification would pop up telling me that the printer may be
disconnected or unavailable. I had to remove the configuration as it
caused the popup and didn't print anyway.
