Re: [kde-linux] "SOLID" is broken

Thanks a lot James, that helped.... :)
now my system is back in the previous state..
i.e. SOLID is working but somehow "shutdown/reboot/logout" are not working...this seems to be policykit related problem though....
isn't it?

best regards,
rajat.

Hello,

On my laptop "solid" is not working anymore. :(
I am running "KDE 4.3.62 (KDE 4.3.62 (KDE 4.4 >=
20090728))" right now.

Do I understand correctly that you are using SVN
TRUNK?  I would advise
against that.  If you want KDE-4 built from source, I
suggest that you
build the 4.3 BRANCH.  If you use TRUNK, you should
expect things to
break from time to time.

Actually two weeks ago everything was running smoothly
and after one svn update "shutdown/Restart/Log out" buttons
from menu even "Power button" stopped working,
so I compiled HAL and DBUS from the source myself.

Installing HAL and D-Bus from source is not a simple thing
to do.  It is
a major project since they require not only building and
installation
but considerable setup and configuration.  Have you
done all this?

Useful assistance can be found here:

http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/general/hal.html
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/general/dbus.html

You also might want to borrow some of the configuration and
setup files
which ARE NOT included in the source distribution from the
binary
packages for your distro.  In some cases you may need
to write your own
"init.d" scripts using your distro's and LFS as a guide.
