Thanks. Several days ago I posted something
on Arch
forum, but nobody has replied, which tells
me the
problem must be rare, as the Arch forum is
pretty
active and people are eager to help.


As to whether to file the bug with kde or
arch, I
don't know what to tell
you...

Welp, I finally just removed kde and
everything related to kde, then installed
kdemod (kde a bit streamlined, supposedly
optimized for arch linux). It's working just
fine. Not only do I have my kickoff menu
back, it's actually speedier and, so far, at
least as stable as 4.5.
