MAC addresses are used for:

- Token ring
- 802.11 wireless networks
- Bluetooth
- FDDI
- ATM (switched virtual connections only, as part of an NSAP address)
- SCSI and Fibre Channel (as part of a World Wide Name)

FDDI = fiber, ATM = ATM.
