I am able to send a print job to a shared printer
connected in my Win2K machine in my Redhat9
environment. Like below, as you see, no password or
userID needed.
[root@champion samba]# smbclient //gsem980/FITFP-41
added interface ip=10.3.8.228 bcast=10.3.255.255
nmask=255.255.0.0
Got a positive name query response from 10.3.1.13 (
10.3.1.13 )
Password:
Domain=[gsem] OS=[Windows 5.0] Server=[Windows 2000
LAN Manager]
smb: \> printmode text
the printmode is now text
smb: \> print /etc/hosts
putting file /etc/hosts as hosts-13762 (19.4 kb/s)
(average 19.4 kb/s)
smb: \>
The print job is done successfully. However, I cannot
set it up in my print tool-> Print Configuration.
After adding the printer, I always failed at sending a
test page. The error message I got is "lpr : unable to
print file: server-error-service-unavailable".
Did I overlook something. Please advice. Thanks
