VNC 3.3.6, RH 7.2, Gnome desktop
When viewing my Linux/Gnome desktop w/ a VNC viewer from Win98, there
are cases where I am unable to read text. Instead of readable letters I
see a bunch of outlines of small boxes. I can see this text fine when
I'm on the Linux console, but not when using the VNC viewer from a Win98
box.
One example of this is when I right-click on the time/date on the Gnome
panel. Then I click "About". What I see is a box with a clock icon
on top. The rest of the box is filled with text information. However,
on my installation, I can't read anything. Any letter of words are
replaced by outlines of boxes.
I thought that this might be an issue w/ inadequate resolution on the
Win 98 side, but I bumped the resolution 1280x1024 on the Win98 side,
viewing a Gnome desktop that's only 1024x768, and I still had the problem.
Any ideas what's going on?
Any help is appreciated.
