scp will not die

    Strange...I aborted (cntrl c) an scp but the processes have not died on
    the other end. In fact kill -9 won't even kill them, any ideas ? Rebooting
    is not an option.

    [root@xxxx backup]# ps auxwww | grep scp
    root 14387 42.0 0.1 2980 904 ? R 13:15 40:52 scp -t
    /home/backup
