MYSQL Question "Database Location"

I want to keep Multi instance of DB and log in
different file system, I know i can keep or configure
multi my.cnf but i am not sure how to configure that,
and what should i define for different datadir and
err-log. i am very much new to MYSQL. Can any one
guide me with example pls.
