    Hello

I want to install rh9 on an external usb drive
I looks like the install scripts don't allow me to do that

when i boot from an install diskette (made from install cd's diskette
image) or from the install cd, the usb-mass-storage driver is loaded and i
see all the /dev/sdax partitions (i can even do a hard drive install from
this drive where i put iso images files)

at disk partition menu, the install stops saying that i have no suitable
device for install (or, if i leave another hdd inside the machine, i can't
tell it to install on /dev/sdaX)

    any help appreciated

what i actually want, is to build a "versatile repair bootable disk" that i
could plug in (hopefully) any machine at office, then boot it with (or
without, depending on the hardware) a boot diskette, then get a running
linux from which i can call any tool i need (partimage, mkfs, ...)

if it were not possible to install rh9 directly on the usb drive, what
could be the best method to build a running system on that drive (by dd'ing
an existing and working install, or by plugging the drive on an ide port
(in my case i have an usb box where i plug an ide drive in, so i could plug
it directly on an ide port in the machine)) and eventually building the
    associated bootable diskette

    thanks a lot
