USB and IRQ question

I have read that USB chains are able to support 120+ devices. But my
understanding of IRQs is that they are limited to 20 or so.
There appears to some disparity. :) Then it occurred to me that the USB
interrupt is but one IRQ. It's then up to USB to sort out the device on
the chain.
Would anyone mind elaborating just a little on this subject? Oh, is this
also the general principle found on Micros~1 Windoze?

I will get USB when I wait long enough because the Gigabyte board above mentioned can be made to work
because you can control the IRQs with it. ... (comp.os.os2.setup.misc) - IDE: pdc202xx_new on Asus A7V333?
