Hello Bret,
Thanks for your comments and advice, I have well taken your point about
needing to know more about my Linux OS. I am trying but it's a slow and hard
process for me, not having any system admin background and knowing only XP.
In answer to your questions, I am using RH 9.0
I am, unfortunately, the only who is attempting to upgrade and maintain Linux.
I know how to follow instructions to install with rpm. My problem is 1) I
don't what rpm's to run for apache upgrade and 2) if I don't know what rpm
upgrade does, if it'll remove the older version of apache and take care of
everything else.
I know apache is a very integrated important part of RH so I don't want to
jump into the unknown territory any more than I have to.

I'm trying to, first I have to gain some confidence with my spanking new
operating system, hopefully with a little help from more knowledgeable people
such as yourself.
thanks Leila
