    btw - noht is defined .... this is the culprit;
    though my BIOS has hyperthreading on ....

    question again, is how do i REMOVE this setting?
    i tried to cat /etc/lilo.conf - and do not see
    this argument defined?

    any other place this can be defined during boot?
