Redhat3.0 u1 Compile kernel on Itanium servers

I have a 64bit Redhat3.0 u1 running on Itanium
servers. I want to increase the Huge TLB page size
to
1gb and recompile the kernel. I am getting a error
stop when it try to do make bzImage. I am following
Digitak Hermit kernel rebuild guide. Is there
something extra that needs to be done on IA64.
