    Hello,

I am having trouble interpreting the output of the
sar command with the -d flag. The DEV column major/
minor node numbers do not seem to logically correlate
to the device node files major/minor numbers:

    > sar -d

    17:27:33 DEV tps blks/s
    17:27:34 dev8-0 5.00 64.00
    17:27:34 dev8-1 384.00 89872.00
    17:27:34 dev8-2 0.00 0.00
    17:27:34 dev8-3 0.00 0.00
    17:27:34 dev8-4 0.00 0.00

output of various ls -l on device node files:

    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 0 Mar 20 2002 /dev/sda

    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 16 Mar 20 2002 /dev/sdb

    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 1 Mar 20 2002 /dev/sda1

Is /dev/sda1 the output in dev8-1, or is this /dev/sdb and the
minor number 16 gets truncated to 1?

    Cheers,
