Hmmmm. It's a DLT but your blocksize is being
reported as a 1024. It might possibly need to be set
to 0 first. Try:
mt -f /dev/st0 setblk 0
Then write a small amount of data to the tape:
tar cvf /dev/st0 /etc/hosts
Then try that dump command.
