install squid from source cords

    I try to use squid-2.5.STABLE12.tar.gz, by untar it and compiling and
    install it according to the instructions on INSTALL and QUICKSTART
    files comes with the packge.

    After I ran it want work. (I am having good experience in using squid
    rpm packge )ps -A command shows the service running but cacheing and
    proxing is not happening in it.If I ran it as a teminal window it
    shows the following error

    I am new to linux in this area of install software using source codes.
    Pls help me to do this work correctly. Is there any online document to
    follow to get knoledge in install software using source codes Pls let
    me know....
