Re: Faster 'du' command

One way around this is to use the quota system to keep a running tally.
setup quotas (e.g. http://www.siliconvalleyccie.com/linux-adv/quota.htm) and
use "repquota" to see what each person is using.

You can leave the users set to 0 quota (no quota) and still benefit from the
report.

Hello All,

Is there a command that works similar to 'du' with the switch '-sm' to
show a directory much faster? Currently I'm running that comand with a
wildcard on /users directory and it takes hours to complete. If there
is not such command, is there combo command or ways to have something
like 'du -sm /users/*' to show up much faster?

Thanks!
