Re: interesting Proplem using Linux as a Router

This is what you said Omar Hasan

Hi all,
I ahave configure linux to act as a router. I have
set up the iptables and forwarding and the DHCP
server. when I ping an a public IP address such as
68.x.x.x for yahoo, I am able to ping. However, when
I ping a domain name such as www.yahoo.com, I cannot
ping. How can I have the IP address to resolve to a
domain name.

Regards,

Omar

You need to set up a DNS server (Bind) and make sure you configure your
DHCP Server options to include handing out DNS information with the DHCP
request. Or if you are not using a DNS server you at least to need
configure your DHCP server to hand out the DNS information from your
Internet provider.

Without more details on what you are trying to accomplish it is too hard
to recommend a solution.

Your main goal is that you need to configure DNS and your DHCP server
options to hand out the DNS information to the DHCP clients.
