Sounds as if someone/something (cron.daily -> prelink?) with root
permissions simply issued 'init u'.
Hint:
man init

/var/log/messages anf found message:
Aug 28 04:03:42 ORA01 init: Trying to re-exec init
Any one what is this mean?
