RHEL 4 ES: Stops on restart

Hi All,
Restarting my system <http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/#> (Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 4 ES [Nahant]) doesn't proceed as expected. I mean it goes
through the process of shutting down services (everything's fine coz it says
it's OK), the text *Restarting system* then is displayed like forever so i
have to push a button for it to restart, is this normal? what causes this?
