cpan flags

Ok, so I keep having to install perl modules from cpan. Every time it decides to add -mtune=pentium4, it *always* fails. I have to go into module after module, regenerate the Makefile, delete that option, and then the make and make install succeed.
Does anyone know how to *STOP* it from automagically adding that damn flag?
