2 queries

Dear ALL
i do have 2 queries regardin my linux servers
1) i have a REDhat 9 server . i need to upgrade it with CENTOS OS cd i upgrade to CENTOS without loosing any data
i have separate partions .. i dont wanna harm the data n var partitions but my / , /root , /usr , /opt, /usr/local ..
2) cd i make a disk ghost of my redhat linux HDD so i can make HDD and keep it as spare and if the working HDD fails i jus replace with the ghost HDD swich the machine ON aand its up and running
this machine will be used as a DNS Server only so data not problem

If the arps bother you, and you're not using this for clustering with
automatic failover, you could also manage this via dns or /etc/hosts
files. You could create three hostnames, and simply have the names
translate to the ip address you want/need.

Thanks. I was looking to see if anyone has had problems running this
way (multiple apps talking to one another addressing messages to aliases
for other apps on the same machine). The arp requests just caught me
off guard as I wouldn't have expected them since the IP address is on
the same interface. Anyway, thanks for the input.
