DGE-550SX DL2000 dl2k.c freezes on SE5 under load

Scientific Linux 5 is just a repackaged RH5 ie
2.6.18-8.1.4.el5xen with dl2k driver v1.19.
Basically, the DL2000 based gigabit nic card D-LINK
DGE-550sx comes up fine with Scientific Linux 5 (x86)
but if you stress it by doing a big sftp, for example,
the link freezes up. No real diagnostics, though I
did get a "xenbr0: hw csum failure" one time.
Has anyone seen this, or heard about a known issue?
Thanks.
