Continuing problems with Cups and RedHat

I upgraded the software on my system yesterday afternoon. I am now at

kernel-2.6.9-55.0.12.ELsmp

and cups and cups-lib are version 1.1.22-0.rc1.9.20.2.e14_5.2


At 11:35 "eggcups quite unexpectedly" No reason given. Nothing reported
in /var/log/messages or /var/log/cups/error_log


system-printer-config, printerconf.gui, printtool still do not modify /etc/printcap so that
changes made through these programs are not seen by lpr, lpq, http:// localhost:631.
