RE: Adding modules for Intel 965 integrated video

Phil,

Two questions (may be dumb questions on my part . . . ): Have you downloaded the kernel sources? In which directory did you issue the make menuconfig command?

In case you want to ask detailed questions I ought to say that I am a CentOS 5 not RHEL 5 user and so I may not be the best person to ask! Other subscribers to this list, I know, will be able to take over.

Hope this helps.
Alan.

Subject: Adding modules for Intel 965 integrated video

Hi All,

I am at a loss as to how to add subj drivers. I have googled around but
remain confused as to how to go about compiling and installing. I admit that
my skills for doing this is lacking and would really like an assist if
possible. I am running RH 5.0 and it has to be 5.0 for this Inspiron 1720 as
work has just purchased 30 of them. Of course the video doesn't want to
play.

I have found the site http://www.intellinuxgraphics.org/ which has some
instruction as to how to proceed but things from the start aren't working out
and I am not sure how to proceed. I have all the software downloaded using
git on the laptop so I am good to go this way. The install guide is here:

http://www.intellinuxgraphics.org/install.html

In the install guide they say to run "make menuconfig" I try this command and
I have the following message:

make: ***No rule to make target 'menuconfig', Stop.

I seem to remember that this used to work in the past and am not sure how to
proceed from here.

rpm -qa | grep kernel gives me the following:

kernel-2.6.18-8.el15
kernel-doc-2.6.18-8.el15
kernel-headers-2.6.18-8.el15
kernel-devel-2.6.18-8.el15

Could someone please help me get started? Thanks in advance,

Phil
