Re: Upgrade from Redhat A/S 4 to Redhat A/S 5?

Mike,

If you look at the RHEL docs on upgrading:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-5-manual/Installation_Guide-en-US/ch23s01.html
I interpret the first couple of paragraphs to say that they recommend
re-installing.

I would advise backing up and completely re-installing. I just
supported someone who only had one package error out, but then he had
unmet dependencies, so then he went through the old "RPM hell" from days
of old.

In addition, there were issues with getting updates that I was working
on with our satellite admin. He could not get updates at all and we
were not sure how to back out of it.

Hi,

I want to know what the upgrade path from Redhat A/S 4 to Redhat A/S 5 looks like? Does it require to destroy the current machine and reinstall everything or is there a clean upgrade path?

Thanks in advance
Mike
