redhat patches

Hi,

Does Redhat issues or announces quarterly patches for the system? something like Solaris' recommended patches? How do you patch or update Redhat OS? or What are the best practices in applying patches updates in Redhat? I usually do "yum update" or "up2date" after installing from the source.
