Since I am still doing the setup, I reboot often.
I have seen kernel panic message several times "Kernel panic - not syncing:
Attempted to kill init!". If I powecycle the server through DRAC, it boots
fine. So even the kernel panic is intermittent.

Hi,
Thanks.
The RHEL 6.1 installation completes. But during the boot, the system
shows that progress bar and hangs. I have also attached a screenshot.
I am typing below as text below; just in case you are not able to see the
attachment.
"......progress bar......................... :
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6.1"
If I powercycle the server through DRAC, the system boots normally. So
the problem is intermittent and i am not sure how to find the cause.
The servers are brand new; so do you still recommend the firmware
upgrades? Never done upgrades for BMC, iDRAC or PERC before; so need to
research at Dell site.
Thanks,

If You have upgraded kernel, it may happen that you forgot to include
drivers for your hdd controller. Otherwise, your Disk just broke.
Verify with BIOS if all drives are available.

2. Also observed kernel panic a few times during reboot "Kernel

Make sure your system firmware is up2date, BIOS, BMC, iDRAC PERC,
youCheck support matrix from Dell to see if 6.1 is supported on 710. Did
settings.test your image. Make sure it is not corrupt. Bios to default
If
?subject=unsubscribestill the same, remove PCI cards from back risers.

RHEL 6.x supports PERC controllers out-of-box.
Instalation may fail because of exposed vfat partitions on the USC.
Check RHEL manuals from support.dell.com.
